At various points in time, the New Haven Railroad owned trolley companies, truck companies, bus companies, and steamship companies and once tried to start an airline. The New Haven was one of the few railroads in America to operate steam, diesel, and electric locomotives at the same time. For example: Maybrook Yard - The Central New England Railway (CNE) was a railroad across northern Connecticut and west across the Hudson River in New York. The major freight yard where the CNE connected with other railroads was at Maybrook.
