 Gnosticism embodies the words of the Gospel of Thomas: "But if you will not know yourselves, you dwell in poverty and it is you who are that poverty". Valentinus said the majority of people are "hyletic", they worship the material - the "psychic", he portrayed as the sickness of abstract intellectualism and moralizing - only through the "pneuma", the knowledge of one's own inner soul and spiritual natures, can one achieve permanence. Those of the pseudo-Gnostics who promote the cult of the worship of Mary Magdalene, merely embrace a different variety of error. In throwing away the Key Of Knowledge, they are no different than the Pharisees. All scriptures are equally Gnostic - that the Church fails to realize this, is their own blindness. That some people call themselves Gnostic, without receiving the Divine Manna of the Kingdom, is also their own blindness.
For example: The Secret Doctrine of Christianity and TheWay - Prior to the 4th century, the Church was Wholistic - providing "milk" for the babes in Christ - nourishment of the soul for the seeker - and the Gnosis of the Mysteries of the Kingdom for the Disciples of TheWay. But the Key of Knowledge was thrown away when the Church of Constantine was born in the 4th century - and the Christian world continues to wander groping in the darkness of unknowing | |
